Posey was rescued when she was just six weeks old. She was one of group of kittens that have been in foster care the longest. She is the only one left from our early on rescues this year. Posey was one of our very shy kittens but she has come such a long way in recent weeks! She would do great as an only cat or with other cats. She has generally bonded closely with other foster kittens her age, but now as the only "older" kitten she has been closer with her foster mom and takes a mothering role with the smaller kittens. She has not had exposure to dogs or children. She would probably not do well welll in a loud busy environment. She still gets spooked and will hide if there are unfamiliar people around but is already comfortable with her foster mom's mom who has come by about 4-5 times over the past 5 months so we believe that she would warm up fairly quickly. She is pretty independent during the day - loves playing with toys, hunting flies and bugs both inside and on her foster mom's small back patio. She also loves to perch on the top of the fence and watch the birds and nature. She is quite verbal and chirps to herself while playing. In the evening Posey goes to her spot on her foster mom's bed and waits until she comes to bed to snuggle. She is super snuggly at night and in the morning, purring and rubbing her head on her foster mom's head and resting her head on her neck/chest,. but also sleeps well and doesn't wake her up at night. Overall she is an easy cat - eats kibble + treats, no issues with the litter box.
She is very smart and extremely treat motivated. She could be easily trained to do simple tricks if the owner was interested. It is believed that she may be prone to allergies or smoke because her eyes and nose would get irritated when the smoke from the fires was around but otherwise she is strong, solid and healthy with beautiful silky hair and alert bright green eyes. She also has the cutest freckles on her feet!
More about PoseyGood with Cats Adoptions are at the Petco in Fairfield, 1370 Holiday Lane, on Saturdays from 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. and adoptions twice a month at the Petco in Novato. Because all of our cats are in foster homes, not all cats come to adoptions every weekend.
